ALL OF THE FOLLOWING STYLES ARE TAUGHT AT YARRA VALLEY YOGA
FOLLOWING IS A BRIEF EXPLANATION OF THESE YOGA STYLES.....

HATHA YOGA is all Yoga that has postures or asana ......

IYENGAR YOGA, VINYASA YOGA, ASHTANGA YOGA are all HATHA YOGA.....
Even though this is technically true Hatha Yoga has developed its own identity, especially in the west in the 21st century....
Hatha Yoga is generally considered softer, perhaps more YIN or FEMALE.

IYENGAR YOGA
Even though Iyengar Yoga is actually a branch of or a modern day version of the ancient Hatha Yoga...it too has developed it's own trade mark.....Iyengar Yoga is more dynamic and considered more YANG or MASCULINE. The intermediate class , Thurs eve,is Iyengar Yoga.

VINYASA YOGA
VINYASAN YOGA is simply any number of postures strung together to make a flow or dance........
Given my history of dance I am enjoying creating my own VINYASA....or YOGA DANCE.....Intermediate classes include some VINYASAN..

ASHTANGA YOGA
Ashtanga Yoga should probably not be called a style of Yoga, as it is actually an integral part of the philosophy of Hatha Yoga...Ashtanga is the 8 Limbs of Yoga..or the 8 stages of hatha yoga. All of my yoga classes are Ashtanga yoga..

THE EIGHT LIMBS are....

YAMA
NIYAMA
ASANA
PRANAYAMA
PRATYAHARA
DHARANA
DHYANA
SAMADHI
